What is required to pass the DSA driving tests to obtain your full licence?
Once you have your provisional licence you can start.
Test 1: Theory and hazard perception tests.
These are taken on computers at test centres around the country.
* You will be given 40 minutes to answer 35 multiple choice questions of which you have to get at
least 30 right.
* You will watch 14 video clips with the perspective of being inside a moving car. You have to react
to developing hazards that you see by pressing a button. The quicker you react the more you
score.
* There are 14 video clips, 13 of which have 1 hazard and 1 that contains 2 hazards. You can score
a maximum of 5 points per hazard. Out of the possible 75 points available, you must score 44 or
over.
If you are successful in both parts you have passed the 1st phase and will receive a theory test certificate which is valid for 2years.
Test 2: The practical driving test.
* You have to pass an eyesight test by being able to read a number plate from 67feet away. You
will then be asked 2 questions about general safety and maintenance checks of the vehicle
you are going to drive.
* You will then be asked to drive for about 40 minutes where your general driving ability will be
observed. During the test you will be asked to perform 2 set manoeuvres from the following list
* Turn in the road (previously called 3 point turn)
* Reverse around a corner
* Parallel parking
* Bay parking.
* 1 in 3 tests require the driver to perform an emergency stop.
* During this test you must not accumulate more than 15 minor points. You must have no
serious or dangerous faults.
If you manage this, then congratulations you have passed and will receive your full driving licence.
